AQAP (A load of Qap), officially read: Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, apparently concerned with the printing requirements of Synagogues in Chicago, accordingly (reportedly), have attempted to FedEx urgent ink supplies from Yemen via the UK.

But the US alleges this gesture of good will was a "credible terrorist threat."

Authorities say “a suspicious parcel, a potentially sinister object thought to be an ink cartridge,” was found on a plane at East Midlands airport (UK), en route to Chicago.

President Obama is quoted saying:

"Our intelligence and law enforcement professionals working with our friends and allies identified two suspicious packages bound for the United States, Specifically, two places of Jewish worship in Chicago."

Reportedly Obama expressed suspicions that Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula is behind the incident.

To support the idea of a "credible terrorist threat", US officials made the non-event seem very, very scary indeed, something every American should be greatly concerned with, by pretending there was a “parcel” of Yemen origins onboard a plane from Dubai to New York’s JFK, which was subsequently escorted on approach by US fighter jets, (the escort made it much less likely the plane would explode).

The EAU (United Arab Emirates) civil aviation body said that the flight had been given the all clear and that it did not contain any packages from Yemen.

I wonder what the master plan was for detonating those “potentially sinister” ink cartridges at the intended destination. Presumably the detonators would not have been wired with a timer, you never know with FedEx if your post will arrive tomorrow or next month.

No doubt the usual story about a mobile (cell) phone SIM card, planted in the ink will be offered.

I also ponder; if I was a Rabbi in Chicago, and I received post from an Arabic friend in Yemen, would I not be slightly apprehensive.

It would appear AQAP still have room for improvement when constructing dastardly plots.

To be fair though, the plan to ink Synagogues was better thought out than the “underpants bomber” mission.

Allegedly, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, attempted to detonate a bomb on Christmas day while landing in Detroit onboard Delta Northwest Flight 253, despite not being equipped with the type of detonator required for the type of explosives he had packed in his undies.

US officials claim Abdulmutallab was trained for the attack in Yemen by AQAP. They also maintain he had contact in Yemen with “radical cleric” Anwar al-Awlaki, a US citizen.

President Obama, clairvoyantly foreseeing this unfortunate misadventure, responded by ordering cruise missile attacks against targets in Yemen, one week prior. US agents failed on Christmas Eve however, in an attempt to assassinate Anwar al-Awlaki, but he remains on the official list of people for the CIA to kill.

Reportedly, the missile attacks killed 120 innocent civilians, and depending on who you believe (Yemen eyewitnesses or US authorities), killed between 0 and 34 Al-Qaeda insurgents.

The American ABC reported that one of the missile targets was:

"A location where officials said ‘an imminent attack against a U.S. asset was being planned"

It was not mentioned which “US asset” in Yemen, but some of note are the natural resources licensed to Kuwait Energy, who were given a $50 million loan by the World Bank (read: owned by World Bank).

In recent years the World Bank has also assisted the nation of Yemen with around $200 million (read: owned by World Bank). Coincidentally, 4 major oil and gas exploration blocks in Yemen, were designated to Kuwait Energy (World Bank owned), under conditions set out by the World Bank and the IMF in exchange for that aid (the $200m).

Surely these minor details have little to do with bombing the crap out of Yemen though, it’s all about the “war on terror” right?

In August of this year, a CIA assessment implicated AQAP as a “more urgent threat” than al-Qaeda itself. Consequently, it was reported that, the Obama Administration was considering the deployment of CIA Predator drones to Yemen for launching strikes against AQAP.

These aptly named indiscriminately killing, flying robots, may incidentally themselves be terminated pending a lawsuit, after it was revealed the company supplying their software to the CIA, had pirated it from another source. It wasn’t even stolen properly, the plaintiffs claim it’s a hacked version with incomplete targeting functionality, and as a result Predator drones could be missing their targets by as much as 40 feet.

If you don’t really believe in imaginary characters (AQAP), starring in a global fairytale (war on terror), and are wondering why Yemen is the recipient of so much favouritism lately, apart from aforementioned limited oil and gas reserves, it is a location of significant geopolitical importance.

Yemen is home to a world class deep sea shipping port. Besides neighbouring Saudi Arabia, Yemen is the only country from which most of the Middle East’s oil can potentially reach the open seas without passing through either the Strait of Hormuz or the Suez Canal.

But instabilities which can threaten this supply route do sometimes flare from opposing tribal factions fighting a civil war in Yemen. A situation the US takes quite a dim view of, even though, as usual, they had more than an influence in bring this to pass.

The obvious solution to this dilemma, hindering the US in controlling access to most of the world’s energy supplies; brand one side of those warring combatants with the Al-Qaeda trademark and blast them to hell.

Ali Jawad of countercurrents.org writes:

“Should Yemen fall within the orbit of direct US influence, it will ominously reduce the geo-strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz in formulating calculations surrounding any future ‘shock and awe’-type strikes on Iran.”

Perhaps a note worthy observation. At present there are massive expansions in US and allied military naval and air power underway in the Arabian Sea. It has also been disclosed that Washington plans to sell $123 billion worth of weapons to allied countries that encircle Iran - Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

Hail Kevin Bracken

Kevin Bracken, Victorian Trades Hall Council President and Victorian MUA branch Secretary, is under fire in a rhetorical lynching from opposing sides of politics after his comments on Melbourne ABC talk back radio (Wed Oct 20th 2010).

Callers to the radio programme were invited to discuss Australia’s support and involvement in the Afghanistan war.

Presenter Jon Faine was apparently some what stunned by Mr Bracken’s contribution as he seemed to suggest that he didn’t believe the official lies (cover story) detailing how the events of 9/11 had transpired.

KB: "Well, I believe that the official story is a conspiracy theory that doesn't stand up to scientific scrutiny."

JF: "Are you serious? Is this a hoax or are you serious?"

KB: "No and I'd love to debate you publicly Jon if you think it's ridiculous."

JF: "There's nothing to debate."

KB: "Well, the fact is that aviation fuel doesn't get hot enough to melt steel."

JF: "I think it reflects very poorly on your members, Kevin, that you have views that are so ridiculous, so extreme and so unacceptable.”

Prime Minister Ju La Guillotine says the comments were “stupid and wrong”, the opposition says they were offensive.

Victoria's shadow-attorney general, Robert Clark, said "These remarks give comfort and support to those who seek to condone terrorism."

I’m offended, very, very f*ck’n offended! Not by Mr Bracken’s comments. I can not begin to express how outrageously offensive it is, to be labelled as someone who “condones terrorism”, because I agree with Bracken.

And Australian politicians spewing this rhetoric are merely an echo of a chorus line that I have noticed frequently emanating of late from their US master counterparts.

Suddenly everyone is being charged as “offensive”, everyone who cares to remark that they don’t quite see how on that particular day, jet fuel burnt at much higher temperatures than is normally within the laws of physics, hot enough to melt steel and iron, and that this melting iron some how caused three WTC towers (one of which wasn’t damaged by any impacts), to perfectly implode into their own foot prints, at free fall speeds which again, is outside the realm of physical reality, as apposed to the real world, where a building collapsing from top down encounters resistance from every floor below, thus slowing the decent incrementally until it abates completely.

I can accept that for the last 9 years, the officially disseminated propaganda has been swallowed hook, line and sinker, in blind faith, rendering many ordinarily intelligent people incapable of independent thought on the matter, I can deal with that.

But these political slurs against anyone with half a thinking brain, that express people should not give thought to this matter, because to do so is deeply offensive to the memory of the victims, is just sickening.

What is offensive is that thousands of innocent people were slaughtered that day. How is it offensive to analyze and question exactly who the murderous party might be?

From all accounts, it would seem highly remarkable, that a few inept rookie, wanna be pilots armed only with box cutters, could evade America’s military defences to orchestrate such a cataclysmic disaster.

By request from Australian Greens Party leader Bob Brown, parliament has just spent a couple of days pretending to debate the nation’s involvement in the Afghanistan war. Kudos to Andrew Wilkie, Adam Bandt and Rob Oakshott for condemning Australia’s conspiratory alliance in the imaginary “war on terror”.

However both major opposing political parties agreed unanimously that Australia should continue this murderous charade for at least another 10 years, maybe more. The government and opposition, saying we can not withdraw now because, in short, that would leave an unmonitored space for breeding terrorists.

In one respect they are correct. With the allegiance of invaders generating so much animosity against their presence from local Afghans, they can ill afford to leave now before asserting adversaries are 100% subservient to their interests.

Let us forget not though, how a small faction of guerrilla fighters came to be known as “Al-Qaeda”, and were then imaginarily inflated in importance to the rankings of “global terror network”, and then named as the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks, and subsequently delivered as the justification for bombing Iraq and Afghanistan back to the stone age.

One of President Barack Obama’s most notable supporters and influential foreign policy advisers is a character by name of Zbigy (Zbigniew) Brzezinski. Zbigy is quite comfortable and proud with the fact that he created Al-Qaeda.

In the late 1970’s in Afghanistan, a tyrannical and fanatical government was toppled and replaced with one that was democratically elected, albeit with socialist ideological tendencies that enjoyed support from the USSR.

The USA determined this development to be detrimental to its geopolitical objectives. Enter Zbigy Brzezinski, then National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter.

Advocated by Zbigy, President Carter signed a directive in July 1979 to start covert operations in Afghanistan. Those operations involved the CIA funding, training, nurturing extremist Islamic ideology and supply of weaponry to a group of guerrillas called the Mujahideen, so that they might disintegrate the newly formed government. The US administration referred to them as “freedom fighters”.

The Mujahideen went on to form both the Taliban and al Qaeda. Al Qaeda which translates to “the Base”, often reported as some sort of inspiration for Islamic fundamentalists, i.e. – “the strong base”, was also reportedly nothing more than a CIA data “base” containing the names of Mujahideen forces.

Asked if he had any regrets in retrospect (like finding the US now a victim of these terrorists that he himself created), Brzezinski in a 1998 interview is on record saying:

“Regret what? That secret operation was an excellent idea. It had the effect of drawing the Russians into the Afghan trap and you want me to regret it? The day that the Soviets officially crossed the border, I wrote to President Carter. We now have the opportunity of giving to the USSR its Vietnam War. Indeed, for almost 10 years, Moscow had to carry on a war unsupportable by the government, a conflict that brought about the demoralization and finally the break up of the Soviet empire.”

“What is most important to the history of the world? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some stirred-up Moslems or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the cold war?”

Further pressed, he was asked “But it has been said and repeated Islamic fundamentalism represents a world menace today.”

Zbigy:

“Nonsense! It is said that the West had a global policy in regard to Islam. That is stupid. There isn't a global Islam. Look at Islam in a rational manner and without demagoguery or emotion. It is the leading religion of the world with 1.5 billion followers. But what is there in common among Saudi Arabian fundamentalism, moderate Morocco, Pakistan militarism, Egyptian pro-Western or Central Asian secularism? Nothing more than what unites the Christian countries.”

The treachery continues to this day. A recent BBC article reported that:

"Pakistani intelligence gives funding, training and sanctuary to the Afghan Taliban on a scale much larger than previously thought."

"Pakistani ISI intelligence agents even attend Taliban supreme council meetings,"

the BBC went on to write, and:

Support for the Afghan Taliban was "official ISI policy"

Guess who supports the ISI with funding, training and materials? If you're musing, the CIA? You would be correct, correct and correct again.

Military saying no to Afghanistan

There is an emerging uprising underway apposing the war in Afghanistan and the peace activists are not as one might expect, students and hippies, but rather the very service people deployed for this fight.

Two recent commendable examples include; the resignation of Matthew P. Hoh from his post as Senior Civilian Representative in Zabul Province, and the Veterans For Peace Group calls for action.

Extracts from Matthew P. Hoh’s resignation letter to Ambassador Nancy J. Powell:

Dear Ambassador Powell,

It is with great regret and disappointment I submit my resignation from my Appointment as a Political Officer in the Foreign Service and my post as the senior
Civilian Representative for the U.S. Government in Zabul Province.

I have lost understanding of and confidence in the strategic purposes of the United States' presence in Afghanistan. I have doubts and reservations about our current strategy and planned future strategy, but my resignation is based not upon how we are pursuing this war, but why and to what end. To put simply: I fail to see the value or the worth in continued U.S. casualties or expenditures of resources in support of the Afghan government in what is, truly, a 35-year old civil war.

If the history of Afghanistan is one great stage play, the United States is no more than a supporting actor, among several previously, in a tragedy that not only pits tribes, valleys, clans, villages and families against one another, but, from at least the end of King Zahir Shah's reign, has violently and savagely pitted the urban, secular, educated and modern of Afghanistan against the rural, religious, illiterate and traditional. It is this latter group that composes and supports the Pashtun insurgency.

The Pashtun insurgency, which is composed of multiple, seemingly infinite, local groups, is fed by what is perceived by the Pashtun people as a continued and sustained assault, going back centuries, on Pashtun land, culture, traditions and religion by internal and external enemies.

In both RC East and South, I have observed that the bulk of the insurgency fights not for the white banner of the Taliban, but rather against the presence of foreign soldiers and taxes imposed by an unrepresentative government in Kabul.

The United States military presence in Afghanistan greatly contributes to the legitimacy and strategic message of the Pashtun insurgency. In a like manner our backing of the Afghan government in its current form continues to distance the government from the people. The Afghan government's failings, particularly when weighed against the sacrifice of American lives and dollars, appear legion and metastatic:

• Glaring corruption and unabashed graft;
  

• A President whose confidants and chief advisers comprise drug lords and war crimes villains, who mock our own rule of law and counter narcotics efforts;

• A system of provincial and district leaders constituted of local power brokers, opportunists and strongmen allied to the United States solely for, and limited by, the value of our US AID and CERP contracts and whose own political and economic interests stand nothing to gain from any positive or genuine attempts at reconciliation; and
  

• The recent election process dominated by fraud and discredited by low voter turnout, which has created an enormous victory for our enemy who now claims a popular boycott and will call into question worldwide our government's military, economic and diplomatic support for an invalid and illegitimate Afghan government.
  

I find specious the reasons we ask for bloodshed and sacrifice from our young men and women in Afghanistan. If honest, our stated strategy of securing Afghanistan to prevent al-Qaeda resurgence or regrouping would require us to additionally invade and occupy western Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, etc. Our presence in Afghanistan has only increased destabilization and insurgency in Pakistan where we rightly fear a toppled or weakened Pakistani government may lose control of its nuclear weapons.

Our forces, devoted and faithful have been committed to conflict in an indefinite and unplanned manner that has become a cavalier, politically expedient and Pollyannaish misadventure.

Similarly, the United States has a dedicated and talented cadre of civilians, both U.S. government employees and contractors, who have been ineffectually trained and led with guidance and intent shaped more by the political climate in Washington, D.C. than in Afghan cities, villages, mountains and valleys.

"We are spending ourselves into oblivion"

Thousands of our men and women have returned home with physical and mental wounds, some that will never heal or will only worsen with time. The dead return only in bodily form to be received by families who must be reassured their dead have sacrificed for a purpose worthy of futures lost, love vanished, and promised dreams unkept. I have lost confidence such assurances can anymore be made. As such, I submit my resignation.

Although the America of our childhood history books has been shaken and some would say, shattered by what we learned in the military and since, we can still hear the call to service when it is clear and true.

Nothing could be more clear or true today than the need for us to do everything we humanly can to stop the killing. Not just stop the escalation – stop the killing. Bring all the troops home. Take care of them when they get here. Pay to rebuild what we have destroyed.

It is important for us to rededicate ourselves to the resolution we adopted at our 2008 convention: Afghanistan is not “the right war.” We must leave as soon as possible.

This is important to repeat because this administration and some in Congress would have us believe that we cannot withdraw immediately from Afghanistan, we must provide some stability and protection from the likes of the Taliban.

So we state without doubt: our occupation of Afghanistan is driving the violent opposition to it. More U.S. troops and more occupation will mean more anger and yet more violent reaction from those whose lands we occupy.

But we are not in Afghanistan to give them democracy, even if that were possible. Neither is our purpose to build up that country’s smaller, more democratic institutions that serve the population. We occupy Afghanistan because America the Empire demands control of its resources and to have a strategic locations from which to project military power.

And no one – NO one, but us is going to stop the killing; neither the President nor the Congress. We can beseech them, ask them, demand from them that they stop the killing and bring all the troops home. But until we exert the power of massive resistance to the Empire that only we can exert, it will keep rolling over Afghanis, Iraqis, Pakistanis and whoever else that is in its way.

If we do not take every step we can we know what will happen. Combat brigades will stay in Iraq, drone attacks, Special Forces and the CIA will continue to kill and maim in Pakistan, and 40, 60, 80,000 more troops will be sent to Afghanistan where the suffering and death will increase dramatically – for years to come.

As the plane was on the approach to John Wayne airport, the Captain came on the intercom to remind us all to "remember our brave troops who have died for our freedom." Even in this post 9-11 paranoid paradigm, if I wasn't belted in for landing, I would have popped out of my seat at 13D and charged up to the cockpit to let the pilot know that my son was killed in Iraq and not one person anywhere in this world is one iota more free because he is dead.

As a matter of fact, the people of Iraq, the foreign country thousands of miles away where my oldest child's brains, blood and life seeped into the soil, are not freer, unless one counts being liberated from life, liberty and property being free. If you consider torture and indefinite detention freedom, then the pilot may have been right, but then again, even if you do consider those crimes freedom, it does not make it so.

Here in America we are definitely not freer because my son died, as a matter of fact, our nation can spy on us and our communications without a warrant or just cause, and we can't even bring a 3.6 ounce bottle of hand cream into an airport, or walk through a metal detector with our shoes on. Even if we do want to exercise our Bill of Rights, we are shoved into pre-designated "free speech" zones (NewSpeak for; STFU, unless you are well out of the way of what you want to protest and shoved into pens like cattle being led to slaughter), and oftentimes brutally treated if we decide we are entitled to "free speech" on every inch of American soil.

A tough, but real, aspect of this all to consider is, how many of the soldiers buried in coffins in military cemeteries killed or tortured innocent people as paid goons for the Empire? To me, it is deeply and profoundly sad on so many levels. If I have any consolation through all of this, I learned that my son bravely refused to go on the mission that killed him, but he was literally dragged into the vehicle and was dead minutes later - before he was forced to do something that was against his nature and nurture.

Casey will always be my hero, but he was a victim of US Imperialism and his death should bring shame, not pride, as it did not bring freedom to anyone. I will, of course, mourn his senseless death on Memorial Day as I do every day.

However, we do not need another day here in America to glorify war that enables the Military Industrial Complex to commit its crimes under the black cloak of "Patriotism."

From Palestine to Africa to South America, our quest for global economic domination kills, sickens, maims or oppresses people on a daily basis, and about 25,000 children per day die of starvation. I am not okay with these facts and I am not proud of my country.

Bin Laden urges Jihad

The Boogey Man, Osama bin Laden, has a new audio tape, allegedly. Western translations quote Osama as saying:

"It is clear that some Arab leaders have plotted with the Zionist-crusader coalition against our (Muslim) people, these (Arab countries) the United States calls the moderate states."

"We must seriously work and prepare for jihad to enforce the right and abolish the wrong."

In a previous tape released in January, Osama was quoted saying:

"The valuable and rare opportunity for those who sincerely want to free (Jerusalem) is to support the Mujahideen in Iraq with everything they need to free the country."

The word “Jihad” like the word “al-Qaeda” never existed in the western world consciousness until recent years.

Some scholars believe al-Qaeda to be largely a creation of Western officials; a name imposed on disparate radical Islamic groups and in reality, a global ideology rather than a super organisation.

The term was first used by bin Laden's spiritual mentor Abdullah Azzam, who wrote of al Qaeda al Sulbah, meaning the 'solid base'. The US intelligence community first used the name in 1998 as a convenient label for a group that bombed US embassies in Africa, but had no formal name.

This invention, or certainly exaggeration, of al-Qaeda is potentially encouraging regional groups to act in the name of al-Qaeda in the knowledge that such actions will have a massive impact on our al-Qaeda-obsessed world. The talking up of al-Qaeda has created a kind of brand name, which can be invoked by small, isolated groups wishing to strike a blow beyond their means.

Mujahideen

Immediately following the revolutionary overthrow of the Afghanistan Daoud regime, the CIA and Washington formed a counter revolutionary army of wealthy feudal landowners and reactionary mercenaries. This army called itself the Mujahideen. The Carter and later the Reagan administrations called them “freedom fighters.” By early 1979, CIA operatives were assisting Mujahideen artillery strikes on Kabul.

It was in this effort to destroy secular socialism and working-class rule in Afghanistan that the CIA organized and financed right-wing anti-communist forces, including Osama Bin Laden. The Republican and Democrats alike were rapturous in their praise of this anti-communist army. It was an army, after all, that was “Made in the U.S.A.”

From 1996 to 2001, the government was led by the Taliban, one of the factions that Washington had armed and trained as part of the Mujahideen. Washington abandoned its old allies when they began pursuing a course too independent of U.S. imperialism.

Osama bin Laden

bin Laden's name is transliterated in many ways. The latter part of the name can be found as "Binladen" or "Binladin". "Bin Laden" is not used as a surname in the Western manner, but simply as part of his name, which in its entirety means "Osama, son of Mohammed, son of Awad, son of Laden". Many Muslims seem to believe that it is OK to teach hatred and violence in the name of their religion, and at the same time expect the world to respect Islam as "a religion of peace, love and harmony".

In 7 days the article was dugg (favoured) over 2500 times. More than 1100 comments were posted in a debate between faithful obedient sheep and people with a brain.

Some of the sheep made helpful reference to quotes from the Islamic Qur’an;

“Any religion other than Islam is not acceptable.”

“The Jews and the Christians are perverts; fight them.”

“When opportunity arises, kill the infidels wherever you catch them.”

“Punish the unbelievers with garments of fire, hooked iron rods, boiling water; melt their skin and bellies.”

People with a brain cited that these are part quotes only, which read quite differently when in original context.

If we are to recite religious quotes though, let us examine the Jewish Talmud;

"When the Messiah comes every Jew will have 2800 slaves."

"Jehovah created the non-Jew in human form so that the Jew would not have to be served by beasts. The non-Jew is consequently an animal in human form, and condemned to serve the Jew day and night."

"Gentiles are outside the protection of the law and God has exposed their money to Israel."

"Murdering Goyim is like killing a wild animal."

"Goy" or "goyim" - plural, are Jewish derogatory words for "Gentile/s" the root "goeti" is the root word of "Devil." Satan is the God of the Gentiles and means "enemy" in Hebrew.

And then there is the New Testament which attributes the following statements to Jesus;

"Do not think that I have come to send peace on Earth. I did not come to send peace, but a sword. I am sent to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law"

"I say to you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. As for my enemies who do not want me to reign over them, bring them here and kill them in my presence"

When sheep submit blind faith in return for promised salvation and swallow religious doctrine literally, this is exactly as their puppet masters wish. I remember a time when I would threaten a person for not respecting our flag and loving our country. I believed my government and its multitude of lies when it ordered me and others, to protect freedom, and spread it to the oppressed people in the Middle East.

I didn’t find crowds of cheering people thanking me for their freedom; I found hell. I began to feel very Roman, killing and conquering all in the name of Caesar Bush. I watched as my commander committed war crime after war crime.

I too, did things that I am not proud of, things I must live with every day. I came home, my body and mind damaged. VA gave me drugs, told me nothing was wrong. I struggle to feel normal again.

All those pseudo-patriotic Christian warmongers want to give me for my emotional nightmares and guilt is a beer and a thank you. If you knew what we really did in your name, you would not thank us. Help us, because the country you so blindly support will not.

Iran Dialogue Fear

International Atomic Energy Agency Report 22/2/09

Iran is cooperating well with UN nuclear inspectors to help ensure it does not again understate the amount of uranium it has enriched, the International Atomic Energy Agency said on Sunday.

The IAEA report showed a significant increase in Iran's reported stockpile of low-enriched uranium (LEU) since November to 1,010 kg.

"The (IAEA) has no reason at all to believe that the estimates of LEU produced in the (Natanz) facility were an intentional error by Iran. They are inherent in the early commissioning phases of such a facility when it is not known in advance how it will perform in practice," said IAEA spokeswoman Melissa Fleming.

Nothing alarming, but not according to Israel.

US dialogue with Iran must be limited

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert convened a secret discussion on the Iranian nuclear threat on Sunday evening following the release of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report on the matter.

Israel fears Tehran will take advantage of US President Obama's willingness to launch negotiations.

The defence minister Ehud Barak recommended that the US dialogue with Iran be limited for a short period of time, after which United Nations sanctions would be imposed on the Islamic Republic.

Barak only last week, said that "Iran perceives itself as a superpower, its sees all of its nuclear neighbors and views it as a duty to be nuclear as well. There is no doubt that a nuclear weapon in Iran is a threat on any possible world order.”

Should that be “possible New World Order”?


A Previous IAEA Report on Iran - 26 May 2008 included:

Between 28 January and 16 May 2008, Iran fed a total of approximately 19 kg of UF6 into the 20-machine IR-1 cascade, the single IR-2 centrifuges, the 10-machine IR-2 cascade and the single IR-3 centrifuges at PFEP. All nuclear material at PFEP, as well as the cascade area, remains under Agency containment and surveillance.

The results of the environmental samples taken at FEP and PFEP indicate that the plants have been operated as declared. [4] The samples showed low enriched uranium (with up to 4.0% U-235), natural uranium and depleted uranium (down to 0.4% U-235) particles. Iran declared enrichment levels in FEP of up to 4.7% U-235. Since March 2007, fourteen unannounced inspections have been conducted.

A US National Intelligence Estimate of November 2007 found:

We judge with high confidence that in fall 2003, Tehran halted its nuclear weapons program.

We assess with moderate confidence Tehran had not restarted its nuclear weapons program as of mid-2007, but we do not know whether it currently intends to develop nuclear weapons.

We judge with high confidence that Iran will not be technically capable of producing and reprocessing enough plutonium for a weapon before about 2015.

Why, in the face of all known facts, is Israel constantly disseminating fear of an Iranian nuclear threat? Perhaps the poor people don’t understand the concept of a fact. Perhaps I can help out here by giving them an example of an actual fact:

Iran is a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and has no nuclear weapons. Only four recognized sovereign states in the world are not parties to the treaty: India, Israel, Pakistan and North Korea. All of whom possess nuclear weapons.

Currently Iran is probably the most scrutinized nation on Earth regarding nuclear material. If only the USA were required to be so accountable the world would be a much safer place.

U.S. Energy Department Cannot Account for Nuclear Materials at 15 Locations

WASHINGTON -- A number of U.S. institutions with licenses to hold nuclear material reported to the Energy Department in 2004 that the amount of material they held was less than agency records indicated. But rather than investigating the discrepancies, Energy officials wrote off significant quantities of nuclear material from the department's inventory records.

Auditors found that Energy could not accurately account for the quantities and locations of nuclear material at 15 out of 40, or 37 percent, of facilities reviewed. The materials written off included 20,580 grams of enriched uranium, 45 grams of plutonium, 5,001 kilograms of normal uranium and 189,139 kilograms of depleted uranium.

The audit was a follow-up to a 2001 probe that found similar record-keeping problems.

Interesting, 200 tonnes of missing depleted uranium.

According to Dr. Doug Rokke (US Army Health Physicist & Nuclear Medicine Sciences Officer) 350 tonnes of depleted uranium were dispersed over Iraq in munitions during the first Gulf War alone. Who knows how much was scattered around in and after the 2003 invasion. These munitions weapons, utilized for their ability to penetrate armour and bunkers due to the density of uranium, have also been extensively dispersed throughout Afghanistan.

Israeli ambassador Yuval Rotem told a meeting of Sydney's Jewish community yesterday that he expected Iran would soon pose a major nuclear threat.

Seven News reporter Sarah Cummings reported that after telling a camera operator to turn off his camera, Mr Rotem told those gathered he expected Iran to stockpile enough uranium over the next 14 months to "be at the point of no return".

"(He said) the country's recent military offensives were a preintroduction to the challenge Israel expects from a nuclear-equipped Iran within a year," Cummings said.

During the meeting, held in a relaxed breakfast setting, Mr Rotem spoke about the war in Gaza, which has killed more than 1300 Palestinians.

Cummings said Mr Rotem made the point that "Israel's efforts in Gaza were to bring about understanding that we are ready to engage in a decisive way."

Does Israel fear an attack by Iran? On the contrary, there is much evidence in general that Israel does not fear a nuclear strike by Iran.

For many decades, Israel has employed military “pre emptive strikes” as an official defence force strategy. In September 2007, they bombed a site in Syria said by US officials to have contained a nuclear reactor built with the help of North Korea.

Incidentally, former US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld who not only armed Saddam Hussein, was also on the board of the Swiss company ABB when they sold the nuclear reactors to North Korea.

In 1981 the world's first attack on a nuclear reactor was carried out by Israel at Osiraq, Iraq.

Israel is thought to be more concerned about the reinforcement that a nuclear Iran would give to its influence in the region and to groups allied with it – such as Hezbollah in Lebanon – than about an actual nuclear strike on Israel.

In an interview with Israeli Military Historian Dr Martin van Creveld, July 2008, discussing Iran's missile tests and their possible threat, he says “They know very well that to attack Israel is suicide. In fact it is the fastest way to put an end to a 5000 year old civilisation. They will be deterred by Israel just as nuclear deterrence has worked everywhere else in the world without one exception since 1945.”

Hang on, is Dr Creveld suggesting that Israel is nuclear armed?

The short answer is; Yes. It’s an amazing quirk that when ever western media references Israel’s nuclear armament it does so using the precursor “rumored”.

Israel has never signed the Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty and has never admitted that it has nuclear weapons. As the Israeli journalist Michael Karpin once wrote, the United States has gone along with this charade because acknowledging the existence of Israel's nuclear arsenal would incite futile demands by Arabs and Iranians to get rid of it.

The 35th president of the U.S. urged Israel not to build the bomb. JFK even sent U.S. inspectors into the Dimona reactor starting in 1961. But Israeli nuclear leaders outfoxed the inspectors, and Washington's resolve faded with Kennedy's death. By Nov. 1966, Israel had the capability to detonate a nuclear device.

In 1967, shortly after the Six-Day War, a key CIA official was told that Israel probably had the bomb; the CIA relayed this information to L.B. Johnson (36th president), but the secretaries of defense and state were kept out of the loop.

Lyndon Johnson, a member of the Disciples of Christ, blessed the enterprise at least in part out of biblical appreciation of the covenant between God and the children of Israel.

It is debatable who poses the greatest threat of nuclear devastation to the world, Israel or the U.S.A. The fore mentioned Dr Martin van Creveld in 2003, believed that the Al-Aqsa Intifada then in progress, threatened Israel's existence and said "I consider it all hopeless at this point. ... We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen, before Israel goes under."

He was of course referring to the infamous Israeli “Samson Option” derived in namesake from a biblical story. Samson, an Israelite with divine strength, was betrayed by his wife Delilah, a Philistine. The Philistines cut off Samson’s hair thus robbing him of strength and imprisoned him. Samson repented his sins, his hair grew back and so did his strength unbeknown to the Philistines. At an assembly of the Philistines with Samson on show, Samson uttered “Let my soul die with the Philistines” and with that he pushed apart the temple pillars collapsing it, killing all the Philistines but also himself.

You will find in most texts mentioning the Samson Option that they are nearly always written from the point of view that Israel alludes to nuking the enemy specifically, in a last dying act of retaliation. However there are rumours that the option is far more sinister, and that Israel has its nukes pointed in all directions with the attitude, if we are to die then so shall the rest of the world. “We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen, before Israel goes under."

Louis René Beres who chaired Project Daniel, a group advising former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, argued that the effective deterrence of the Samson Option would be increased by ending the policy of nuclear ambiguity. He recommended Israel use the Samson Option threat to “support conventional preemptions” against enemy nuclear and non-nuclear assets because “without such weapons, Israel, having to rely entirely upon non nuclear forces, might not be able to deter enemy retaliations for the Israeli pre-emptive strike.”

In the 1990 Gulf War, on the second day of the American invasion, Saddam Hussein fired eight Scud missiles at non combatant Israel. Two of the conventionally armed missiles landed on Tel Aviv. Then Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir responded by ordering mobile missile launchers armed with nuclear weapons moved into the open and deployed facing Iraq.

“The Samsonesque strongman of the Middle East had stirred” - Seymour Hersh. Promising Patriot missile batteries and loads of future aid, the United States pressured Israel to keep cool.
